Statement
My work is based on telling stories through objects I encounter at diverse big and small moments in my life. This body of work which is a new drawing series of works on paper are based on direct observations of slices of faces, legs, shoes, hats, and the interiors, some of exteriors of the LIRR. I do these drawings only on my commute home everyday from work using a variety of mediums: pen, pencil, color pencils, charcoal pencils or oil pastel. The finite time I have to work on these drawings, paired with the desire not to be caught, and that my subjects don’t stay still are part of the narrative of this body of work. These drawings build up over the weeks it takes my to build the compositions with a variety of mediums.
